The world is our classroom.

A Day at the WELL

Because we care about all the domains of development (spiritual, socioemotional, cognitive, linguistic, and physical), we offer a variety of learning opportunities.  Our goal is that our activities are communicated / delivered in a meaningful way with as much multisensory (sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste) integration as possible considering the multiple intelligences (Gardner) of our learners.  We also welcome and embrace their engagement at whatever skill level and sensory diet with which they are most comfortable.

Music and Movement

We start our day by waking up our joints and muscles through brushing, joint compressions, and ball bouncing for body awareness and a sensory diet.

Praise Break

Praise break is a time to sing, dance, and thank God for His goodness! We know that happiness and joy are optimal contexts for learning.  Furthermore, gross motor (big muscles) movement contributes to enhanced cognitive function and brain plasticity, other essential ingredients for learning.

Word Tremble

Isaiah 66:2 tells us that the Lord looks favorably on the person who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at His word.  This is why our Scripture time is called "Word Tremble".  We hear the truths of Scripture, meditate on them, and consider how they relate to our lives.

Flow

Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi coined the term 'Flow' in 2008.  Flow is the balance between challenge and skill.  When a learner is experiencing flow, the activity with which he/she is focused on and engaged becomes prolonged enjoyment.  Our goal is for our learners to experience flow during individualized instruction / literacy time.

Art

Creativity is a gift which all our learners have.  They come to recognize this gift once they arrive at a place where they feel safe, loved, and accepted.  We strive to provide such a place.   Art is a time when we see more of who they are.  We applaud their talents and abilities!

Field Trips

Our field trips / community outings are other opportunities for our learner to interact with the world surrounded by people who care and support them.

The potential for activities is limitless!

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3
